I have a small plantation in Faleseela Uta. SPBD, like many other women members of this microfinance institution, has given me financial freedom. Before I had to wait for my husband to get paid so I could have some money but now I earn it by myself.

I harvest pumpkins, which take a couple of weeks to grow, and sell them. With the first loan of $200, I purchased seeds and equipment for the plantation. I do not know how much I earn, I have not calculated it, but surely it is more than $45 that my husband earns. Now I can buy more meat for dinner and my children go to a better school, and even my husband asks me for advice when it comes to spending money. Many women like me are more confident after participating in this microcredit program.

Thanks to the program I even know my neighbors better. We talk about our micro-businesses all the time and we advise those who are in difficulties. We, women, have to help each other!
