My husband, my three children and I live on a small farm in the Kyela district, about a thousand kilometres from the capital Dar es Salaam. Before our only source of income was agriculture and we were completely dependent on the bonanza of the harvest. My house was in a terrible state and was in urgent need of repair.

I went to a meeting with a group of receivers of a loan from the Tujijenge entity and decided to request one. The first was €85 with which I set up a kiosk where I sold food and other supplies for the house. In addition, I received training in business management from the microfinance entity. After repaying my first loan, I received a second loan for an amount of €170, with which I added a small restaurant bar to the kiosk.

Thanks to the benefits of these activities, I managed to repair my house, and, most importantly, I have a source of income for my family that does not depend on the annual harvest.
