Social Issue

As impact investing is growing as a means to address many problems associated with poverty in the global south, there is a shortage of local talent to become future leaders in this industry. The key obstacle is the lack of affordable access to quality tertiary education, particularly for low income households.

Our Response

Our longstanding partner, Social Investment Managers and Advisors (SIMA) set up a foundation in 2022 with the objective of developing a generation of impact investing leaders that come from poor communities and can relate to challenges therein.

The scholarship recipients are provided with 100% tuition assistance, practical training, internship opportunity, and real-world exposure to promote their personal and professional development.

Netri has provided this donation to the SIMA Foundation so that it can provide affordable loans to students from lower income backgrounds and train future leaders in the impact investing space.

To date,SIMA Impact Foundation has partnered with 3 institutions namely Makerere University in Uganda,The Citizens Foundation in Pakistan and Strathmore University in Kenya to host 14 undergraduate students, of which 70% are women.

Expected Social Impact

Netri´s donation will act as a revolving source of funds to seed the growth of future leaders of impact investing within their own society and the world at large. As the loans get repaid by the recipients who have gained employment, the funds will become available to new future candidates.
