Social Issue

Kosovo is one of the poorest countries in Europe with a very high unemployment rate, close to 35%. In addition, it is a country with a strong dependence on international remittances.

Our Response

We have provided a loan to Kreditimi Rural i Kosoves, an entity whose mission is to support resource-poor communities in rural areas by offering tailor-made financial products to farmers, traders, and micro-businesses that typically are not served by banks. Kreditimi Rural i Kosoves offers micro credits to farmers with flexible terms, adapted to the client’s cash flows, seasonality and business activity. The loans can be used to purchase farm machinery, livestock, and other farm inputs.

Expected Social Impact

This investment is expected to allow the provision of approximately 200 microcredits with the goal of promoting access to finance to micro-businesses within the country.
