Social Issue

Strong economic growth during the pre-transition period from 2007 to 2012 did not reduce poverty and contributed to widening inequality in Afghanistan. 36% of Afghans remained poor, meaning that more than one in three did not have enough money to buy food or cover their basic needs.

Our Response

Microloans are a powerful tool to promote small-scale productive activities and improve farmers’ production.

FINCA International started its project in Afghanistan in July 2003 under an NGO license. The company has more than 20,000 borrowers in its 15 branches located in Kabul, Herat, Mazar, Faizabad, Baghlan, and Kunduz provinces. FINCA Afghanistan mainly offers three services: group loans for women, individual loans, and loans to small companies.

Expected Social Impact

This investment of the Netri Foundation will enable, the concession of more than 1,800 loans to Finca Afghanistan clients.
