Financial services for informal sector entrepreneurs
Afghanistan, 2013
Social Issue
Strong economic growth during the pre-transition period from 2007 to 2012 did not reduce poverty and contributed to widening inequality in Afghanistan. 36% of Afghans remained poor, meaning that more than one in three did not have enough money to buy food or cover their basic needs.
Our Response
Microloans are a powerful tool to promote small-scale productive activities and improve farmers’ production.
