Social Issue

New Delhi could be the paradigm of big capital in a developing country where opulence and misery coexist. It is easy to recall images of helpless homeless crammed into the train, bus, or any of the streets of the city.

Our Response

Solving this social problem could seem like one of those enormous tasks that can discourage any well-intentioned person. But the resolution is not a problem for Compassionate Missionaries and their social health service.

Their ambulance service has three main functions:

  • Picking up homeless patients in extremely serious conditions and take them to different hospitals for an emergency cure.
  • Taking homeless people who are undergoing medical treatment to the hospital regularly.
  • Using the ambulance as a mobile clinic to assist on the ground those in need.

Expected Social Impact

This is where the work of the Missionaries Compassionate begins; their objectives would not be met if the beneficiaries of their health services continued to carry the same life as before. The medical service provided by the ambulance becomes an excuse to start interacting with the homeless and entering their life, providing, in addition to medical help, the necessary psychological support so that they begin to develop their abilities and contemplate the possibility of an alternative life. It is about gradually empowering them to participate in their own change and, at the same time, to become a change catalyst for others. In short, it is about restoring a person’s dignity.
