I am a married woman and a mother of four children from Taulabe. I wanted to start a grocery and kiosk business.
In 2000, I became a member of the Cooperativa Mujeres Unidas Ltda (COMIXMUL) to protect my savings and obtain a loan for my business. They granted me a first 12-months loan for an amount of €407. The Cooperative also trained me to effectively manage my business and I have been able to expand it by hiring new staff thanks to other loans. Last year I decided to extend it again with a 4-year loan for an amount of €20,347 euros.
In addition to helping two of my children open their businesses, my old kiosk has become “La Bodega Supermercado” and is one of the largest in the city. My next project is to become a Coca-Cola distributor. Without the Cooperative’s support, my successes would not have been possible.
