Aicha Guig

I am the mother of five children and I live in the village of Imzoughen, located on the mountainous road between Marrakech and Ouarzazate. Being illiterate does not prevent me from having great skills in weaving rugs.

I requested, through the credit manager of the microfinance institution INMAA, a first loan of €90 for the purchase of materials. At the end of the fourth month of the loan, I had already sold four rugs and I had €171 saved after the loan was paid. With the second loan of €181 not only did I buy more materials but I was able to open a carpets and other products shop. With a third loan of €271 euros I convinced my husband to travel to Marrakech and buy kitchen accessories to sell them door to door.

With the help of the microcredits, and with ambition and the ability to generate my own resources, I have managed to greatly improve my family’s quality of life.
