Financial services for informal sector entrepreneurs
Tajikistan, 2019
Social Issue
Tajikistan remains one of the poorest countries in the world. Despite sustained growth in recent years, lack of financial resources remains a serious problem for most Tajik people.
Reducing poverty is, therefore, one of the priorities of the country.
Our Response
Microloans are a powerful tool to promote small-scale productive activity and to help farmers become more productive.
For this reason, we have collaborated with Arvand, an entity specialised in loans for agriculture and farming. Its mission is to improve the well-being of its clients and to create opportunities through the provision of financial services to entrepreneurs.
Arvand has its roots in a microfinance project launched in 2002 by the NGO ACDI / VOCA and is now one of the largest entities in the country, offering services to small entrepreneurs, particularly in rural areas.
Expected Social Impact
With this investment of the Netri Foundation, it is estimated that Arvand will be able to provide 560 microloans to empower rural communities in Tajikistan.
