“I heard the mMitra calls everyday, and somehow I didn’t feel alone.”
I’m Junali and I’m 25 year old. I came to Mumbai from Guwahati, Assam after the birth of my daughter Kanishka in 2015. I was anxious about my second pregnancy because I did not have the support of my family and relatives. My husband, Amit, is a taxi driver who is barely at home as he has to work the entire day.
My fears were assuaged when I started listening to mMitra calls in the fourth month of her pregnancy. I heard the calls everyday, and somehow I didn’t feel alone.
My son Ayush was born via a normal delivery, just like my daughter Kanishka. I follow all the advice I hear on the calls, even though some of it may go against traditional beliefs.
I had given Kanishka sugar and water when she was a newborn, because I did not know that she only needed breast milk for the first 6 months. Now, I don’t give Ayush anything else except my breast milk, because it has all the nutrition he requires.
