I am in the ninth grade at the Hermavathi School and I live in Gollamaranapalli. My parents are called Lingappa and Sakamma, they are illiterate and work in crafts.
The girls in the village did not have adequate transportation to go to school, so we walked. I used to leave the house an hour earlier because I had to walk five kilometers to get there, it was too much to go with a full backpack. I was coming home very tired, and I was not concentrating on classes or finishing my homework. I was hitchhiking sometimes but it’s a dangerous thing for a girl my age.
Now I have a new bicycle. I feel very comfortable going to school by bike and arriving on time, and I am also much more focused in class.
I am very grateful for this opportunity since I will be able to perform much better in my studies. I save a lot of time that I spend studying at home and doing homework. The bicycle is very useful in my day to day life.
