Social Issue

Senegal faces significant social and economic challenges. With a low Human Development Index (HDI) and high poverty levels, access to inclusive financial services remains limited, especially in rural areas and the informal sector. Although the country’s macroeconomic outlook is positive, driven by the development of the energy sector, many low-income families continue to rely on small-scale commercial or agricultural activities that remain economically fragile.

Our Response

Netri has provided a loan in local currency to Pamecas, a cooperative microfinance institution founded in 1995, whose mission is “to support its 28 cooperatives in promoting the economic and social well-being of their members.” The institution has a strong national presence and serves more than one million members, focusing on low-income segments of the population. Pamecas offers a diversified range of individual and group loans. Netri’s loan will be used exclusively to fund productive microloans for low-income individuals.

Expected Social Impact

It is estimated that Netri’s loan will enable Pamecas to provide more than 1,140 microloans focused on income-generating activities, helping to improve the quality of life of its members.
