Financial services for micro-entrepeneurs
Mexico, 2024
Social Issue
According to the World Bank, Mexico is lagging behind in terms of financial inclusion. Only 45% of adults have accounts, and just 41% have made or received digital payments—both figures significantly lower than those of countries with similar levels of development. Gaps in financial access based on gender, region, and urban-rural settings are also significantly wider in Mexico than in the Latin America and Caribbean region. The absence of credit in rural areas stifles rural economic activity, perpetuating economic inequality.
Our Response
Netri granted a loan to Avanza Sólido, a Mexican microfinance institution with a gender-focused approach and over 10 years of experience in providing microloans. Its mission is to strengthen the economic independence of women and their families through financial services and products that promote community well-being, such as working capital and home improvement loans. The company operates in central and southern Mexico, with offices in the states of Chiapas, Veracruz, Yucatán, and Tabasco.
Expected Social Impact
With this second loan from Netri, it is estimated that Avanza will be able to grant over 470 microloans, aiming to improve the opportunities and well-being of its clients.
