Social Issue

Microenterprises are vital to India’s economy, with 75 million MSMEs contributing 33% of GDP and 45% of manufacturing. However, over 80% lack adequate financing, relying on costly informal sources. This issue is most severe in central states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh, which account for 35% of national microenterprise loan demand but receive only 10% from formal lenders. This credit gap hinders their growth and limits their economic impact.

Our Response

Arriba Inclusive Finance is a newly formed social NBFC addressing MSME credit gaps in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana. An affiliate of Samhita, a microfinance leader who has empowered 393,000 women, Arriba was created to provide larger MSME loans that Samhita’s nonprofit model couldn’t support. In the past, Netri supported Samhita through guarantees, and now we’re providing a loan to Arriba to further its mission.

Expected Social Impact

Arriba addresses the financial needs of small businesses in underserved regions of India, focusing on states with traditional bank loan access 70-80% lower than others. All borrowers are women, and about 60% of borrowers are from urban and semi-urban areas. Arriba ensures loans support income-generating activities, promoting women’s economic empowerment. By bridging the financial gap, Arriba fosters economic independence and contributes to inclusive growth in India.
