Social Issue

With more than 22 million inhabitants, New Delhi is the most populous city in India. Poverty and social inequality rates are very high. The homeless in New Delhi are a collective that has absolutely nothing: they are completely uprooted, with no sense of belonging to any group, as they have nowhere to go.

Many are sick and have no access to any medical care, and some are even victims of criminal gangs who exploit or even physically abuse them.

Our Response

Among the objectives of Compassion Missionaries is the care of the most vulnerable sections of our society, for which it has set up Antyodaya Niketan, an interfaith initiative and a charitable society, registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860.

Amritanand Niketan, the shelter home which was built with the help of Netri Private Foundation in 2010 houses about 60-65 inmates, who are sick and suffering from destitution. All of these sick people are on regular medication for physical or psychological conditions. The home caters to vulnerable and abandoned people from society, who are in dire need of shelter, medicine, food, and other social support systems.

The present project consists of the construction of two isolation rooms and four bathrooms to improve the functionality of Amritanand Niketan.

Expected Social Impact

This collaboration is expected to improve the infrastructure and services available to the beneficiaries of Amritanand Niketan.
