Social Issue

More than 100 million people in Pakistan do not have access to financing. Although financial inclusion has grown from 8% to 18% of the population in the last three years, only 5% of Pakistani women have a bank account.

Our Response

Microloans are a powerful tool to provide opportunities to excluded and marginalized communities. Netri collaborates with the Damen Support Program (DSP) that was created as an NGO in 1992 by a group of philanthropists and professionals with the aim of improving financial prosperity and self-sufficiency for marginalized groups, particularly women, through financial inclusion.

In 2016, it became a non-profit financial non-bank company (NFBC) and is regulated by the Pakistan Security and Exchange Commission (SECP). Now it has more than 110,000 clients and maintains the fifth position in terms of market share among microfinance institutions in Pakistan.

DSP offers loans to women’s groups in rural areas, with a focus on giving livestock loans, which represents 42% of its portfolio. DSP reduces the risk for its clients by offering a vaccination service for livestock and providing microinsurance (life and health) for all its clients.

Expected Social Impact

With the Netri Foundation loan, DSP is expected to provide more than 1,900 microcredits during the investment period.
