Social Issue

Peru has large gas reserves and is building infrastructure throughout the country to make it available so that it can be used in power generation and transportation, both public and private. In order to promote the use of natural gas, the government is offering subsidies for the conversion of vehicles. Acceso Crediticio is promoting this conversion so its clients obtain benefits since the expense in natural gas is equivalent to 25% of their usual fuel.

Our Response

Acceso Crediticio is a financial company founded in 2007 in Peru and specialised in giving loans to taxi drivers for the purchase of vehicles. All cars are adapted to run on natural gas, a fact that allows taxi drivers to save 75% on fuel costs.

Expected Social Impact

Acceso expects to provide financing to more than 13,000 clients until the end of 2017. According to this growth forecast, the impact directly attributable to this investment is expected to allow more than 200 taxi drivers to obtain loans for the purchase of their cars, which will run on natural gas. Netri played an important role in “catalysing” financing for Credit Access, accepting a much lower interest for our co-investor to obtain the minimum acceptable return for approval. As a consequence, the amount of the loan allocated to Acceso has multiplied by three the value of what Netri contributed.
