Building a library
Peru, 2009
Social Issue
Adequate academic infrastructure is important as it is directly related to the quality of learning. Various research shows that correct educational services cause an increase in academic interest on the part of students.
Our Response
The project consists in the construction of a library for the purpose of improving access to information and promoting the habit of reading in the students and general population of Trujillo.
The library consists of a reading room, a virtual room with computers, a reception area, and a toilets area, in a total built surface area of 134.23 m².
The project from its start has been coordinated and agreed with the Regional Government of La Libertad through the Education Office. By the infrastructure and equipment being transferred to its direct administration (integrated to its assets), proper use, maintenance, and allocation of human resources are guaranteed.
Expected Social Impact
It is planned for the direct beneficiaries to be 17,590 primary and secondary students, 1,550 teachers, 850 students from teacher training institutes, and 40 librarians.
