Social Issue

In Cambodia, the microfinance sector originates from the development programmes of various NGOs. These were established in the 1990s, at the end of the civil war, to boost the country’s economy. In 2009, large numbers of people in Cambodia were still living in poverty, especially those in rural areas.

Our Response

AMK is an organization originating from Concern Worldwide, a humanitarian organisation dedicated to the fight against poverty. In 2003 it decided to establish itself on its own, for the sole purpose of providing loans to people without resources in rural parts of Cambodia.

Expected Social Impact

With this investment of the Netri Foundation, it is estimated that AMK will be able to provide 2,886 microloans to empower rural communities in Cambodia.
