Social Issue

Honduras is a country with a lower middle income level and faces great challenges with more than 50% of the population living in poverty (according to official data from 2008). In rural areas, approximately one in five Hondurans lives in extreme poverty, or on less than $ 1.90 a day.

Our Response

Established in Seguatepeque, the microfinance company COMIXMUL began its activities in 1986 with a loan project to 12 women and it has become an important cooperative that operates through nine delegations.

Expected Social Impact

We expect to provide around 150 microcredits a year and a total of 900 during the project’s six-year duration.
