Social Issue

Evidence shows that in the microfinance sector, women are very good clients. Women are more responsible regarding the management of finances in the context of  poor families. For this reason, Netri supports microfinance institutions that focus on women’s financial inclusion as a way to alleviate poverty and bring about wellbeing.

Our Response

Netri has provided a local currency loan to TYM to further its mission of improving the quality of life of low-income women and their families, by providing them with financial and social services that create favorable conditions to enhance their overall position in society.

TYM works directly with poor, low-income women who seek access to financial and non-financial services. They range in age from 18 and above and live in rural contexts. TYM gives special priority to the most disadvantaged women in these communities, which include ethnic minorities, people living with HIV/Aids and disabilities.

Expected Social Impact

With this loan from Netri, it is estimated that TYM will be able to provide more than 1,200 microloans, to improve the opportunities and the living quality of its clients. TYM has an outstanding reputation in applying good client protection practices to avoid over-indebtedness. It designs credit products tailored to the needs of low-income, marginalized, and nearly poor women. In addition, TYM strives to add value to its clients and households through various initiatives including scholarships for children of TYM clients with good academic achievements, subsidised housing for poor TYM clients, financial literacy training and business counseling and many other community support and charity activities.
