Social Issue

Jordan is a low-middle-income country according to the World Bank. It has a GNI per capita of $3,980. In Jordan, 14.2% of the population (1.36 million inhabitants) lives in a situation of poverty, two thirds of these in urban areas.

In addition, 17% of Jordanian children suffer from malnutrition, their infant mortality rate is high (31 per 1,000 live births). 11% of the population does not have access to drinking water.

Our Response

FINCA Jordan was established in 2007 by FINCA International. It initially registered as an NGO and became a non-profit entity in 2009. Its mission is to alleviate poverty through durable solutions that help people build assets, create jobs, and raise their standard of living.

FINCA Jordan is headquartered in Amman and primarily focuses on serving small farmers and microentrepreneurs through 15 branches located in the central and western regions of the country. Its personal loans make up 64% of its total portfolio, and the remaining 36% are for groups.

Expected Social Impact

This investment of the Netri Foundation will allow that FINCA Jordan will be able to provide 380 microloans with the aim of generating employment in the country.
